Have you ever been at a party and someone starts chatting away about a new, wonderful artist that you have never heard of? You then pretend to know this fabulous person so you don’t feel like an idiot in front of this ritzy partygoer. Have you ever walked into someone’s house and fallen in love with their perfectly designed home, then went to your own home feeling bad about your house because you understood that you would never be able to design (or afford!) your interiors in such a way?
Our goal is to take the intimidation out of design. There is no reason for you to feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable when it comes to designing a beautiful space. We believe you don’t have to spend a fortune to have your spaces look like a million dollars. This applies to everything in your life – from a small get-together to an entire house makeover. The secret is a little elbow grease and a lot of creativity.
This is the mantra that we have applied to all of our designs. It is easy to decorate a room with a champagne budget. It gets a little trickier when you are limited to purchasing a six-pack of cheap beer. There is a far greater thrill and sense of accomplishment as well as a strong infusion of personality that is found when rooms, houses, and parties are not solely created with designer resources.
Thoughts on Design
- I am slightly obsessed with elephants and I have no idea why.
- I can snort and sound exactly like a hog.
- I can make a free throw with my right and left hands.
- I have completely gut-renovated several homes, creating layouts, picking every fixture and all the materials, sourcing every piece of furniture, and shopping for one million and twelve accessories.
- I grew up in New Mexico, but had a Texas accent.
- I have run 3 marathons, 3 half-marathons and a 10k race.
- I have a Bachelor’s Degree with a secondary emphasis in Studio Art, as well as many hours of continuing education in Interior Design.
- My favorite food is a toss-up between cereal and ketchup, however, I can not condone combining the two.
- I will argue with anyone the merits of the movie Clue.
- I had my current house on an historic homes fundraiser tour.
- I am absolutely passionate about design and I am just as passionate about making it accessible to everyone.
